(“Marlines Crew Management”) is committed to the ethical recruitment of seafarers and to the prevention of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and child labour in every part of our operation and supply chain.

1. Our Commitment
We adhere to:
- ILO Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (MLC), Regulation 1.4 and Standard A1.4
- ILO Fundamental Conventions (29, 87, 98, 100, 105, 111, 138, 182)
- UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
- UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 (as a market-facing reference standard)
2. No Fees to Seafarers
Consistent with MLC 2006 Standard A1.4(5)(b), Marlines does not charge seafarers directly or indirectly for recruitment or placement — except for the statutory cost of a national medical certificate, discharge book and passport. Visa costs are borne by the shipowner.
3. Minimum Age
Marlines does not recruit any person under 18 years of age.
4. Freedom of Association
Seafarers are free to join trade unions of their choice and to bargain collectively.
5. No Blacklisting
Marlines does not maintain or use any blacklist.
6. Written Contract
Every placed seafarer receives a Seafarer Employment Agreement (SEA) in a language they understand, with adequate time to review before signature, in full compliance with MLC 2006 Regulation 2.1.
7. Due Diligence on Partners
- Shipowner and shipmanager clients (MLC certification, prior conduct)
- Sub-agents and manning partners (annual MLC review, fee-verification interviews with placed seafarers)
- Third-party training and medical providers
8. Training
All Marlines staff engaged in recruitment receive annual training on MLC 2006, ethical recruitment, anti-corruption, KVKK / GDPR and modern slavery indicators.
9. Whistleblower & Grievance Channels

- Anonymous reporting is accepted; no retaliation will be tolerated.

10. Anti-Corruption
Marlines has zero tolerance for bribery, facilitation payments or corruption in any form. We support the principles of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN).
11. Reporting & Review
This statement is reviewed annually and updated as necessary. Progress is documented in our Ethical Recruitment Register and is subject to audit within our MLC SRPS certification cycle.
